Recombinant … grows out of the experience of community-based ministry in a rural community of the Kootenay region, British Columbia, Canada. The project, using iterative and collaborative prototyping to experiment in a changing spiritual ecosystem, is documented in a Louisville Institute Pastoral Study Grant awarded in 2013 to George Meier. George is the principal of Recombinant Church Consulting.  He is joined by his spouse, Rev. Dr. Therese DesCamp, a spiritual director and writer, who has led a number of experimental ministries and who is currently attending the Living School, a program of the Center for Action and Contemplation in New Mexico.  Therese is the founder of Hearts Rest Retreats.

George has consulted and led workshops for churches in The United Church of Canada, The Anglican Church of Canada, the United Church of Christ, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and the Unitarian Universalist Church.  He has served rural and urban churches with average worship attendance from 30 to 300.  George and Therese’s complete resumes are on the Hearts Rest website, heartsrest.com.
